Black History Celebration- February 24 (Morris St location)

Come help us celebrate Black History Month! We need volunteers support in the following areas:
Set-up:  Set up and decorate the space the day of the event.  Two shifts: 12:00-2:00 PM or 3:00-5:00 PM
Food prep/ runners:  As food arrives, determine appropriate storage and serving needs, place food on buffet table at specified time, monitor food levels and replenish as necessary. 4:30-7:30 PM
Food servers: Serve food to guests going through the buffet line. Communicate with food runners as supplies run low. Interact with guests in a pleasant manner. 6:00-8:00 PM
Clean-Up:  Collect trash and throw it away, clean and put away dishes, wipe down counters and tables, take down decorations, put remaining food in storage containers and refrigerate. 8:00-9:30 PM

2016 Events Intern
Friends of the Children – Portland, a nationally recognized, dynamic non-profit mentoring organization serving high-risk children in our community, has a current opening for an Event Intern. The Event Intern will work closely with the Development Team to plan the annual Friend Raiser, the Friends of the Children signature auction. The event is Thursday, May 12, 2016. Classic Wines Auction support
As a benefitting charity of the Classic Wines Auction Friends of the Children is required to provide volunteer service hours to help make the event happen. There are a number of different opportunities listed here. Just be sure to select Friends of the Children as your charity of choice!

SE House Deep Clean

Friends of the Children operates a house in SE Portland that Friends and kids can access to work on homework, play basketball, do a craft project, etc. The house undergoes heavy use and needs a deep cleaning at least two times a year. If your group would like to help us provide a clean, welcoming space for our youth please contact volunteer@friendsofthechildren.org.
