Over the past 25 years, we have grown to an organization of 90 employees and 510 youth who are spread across 159 different schools in the Columbia-Willamette region, all within a 30-mile radius of our NE Portland headquarters. The second-largest population of youth we serve are in SW Washington. Our mentors currently provide one-on-one mentoring to 47 youth who attend 21 schools in the Vancouver, Evergreen and Battle Ground School Districts.
The number of children in SW Washington in need of a Friend continues to grow. We have decided to put down roots and expand our presence in SW Washington. This past year has been busy!
Across the three Clark County school districts that our youth attend, we estimate that roughly 6,600 youth deal with overlapping barriers and traumas that would qualify them for our program. In response to the high need and the rapid changes in Clark County, we are eager to deepen our engagement and continue strengthening our relationships with the school districts and community partners with a solid foundation of support.
