Rachel Pearl

Chief Program Officer

Rachel grew up in Santa Cruz, CA and went to college at San Francisco State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She moved to Oregon almost 16 years ago. It took her awhile to love it, but does now! Rachel has been working in the Juvenile Justice system for the past 20 years developing programs for youth in the system. She is excited to work for Friends of the Children and use her skills and experience to prevent youth from ever ending up in the system. Prevention has always been her focus and working at FriendsPDX allows her to work alongside a talented, diverse group of people using a program model that really works and has incredible outcomes. Rachel looks forward to putting her efforts towards the goals of increasing graduates' ability to be self-sufficient in life. Her favorite things about Friends of the Children is that the relationship with youth is “no matter what.” The unconditional support is so unique and so greatly needed in a world which often alienates kids who make mistakes. Outside of work she loves to be with her 3 kids, playing in nature at the beach or in the forest.
