Investing in the Leaders of Tomorrow

Friends of the Children–Portland has been successful in breaking the cycles of generational poverty for 27 years.

We identify youth facing the hardest challenges and relentlessly dedicate our resources to them for their entire childhood, enabling them to overcome systemic barriers to their education and their future. We partner with local school districts and the state foster care system to identify youth who would benefit most from a long-term mentor helping them navigate life.

Each youth in the program receives 16 hours per month of high quality, individualized mentoring from a full-time, salaried, professional mentor called a Friend.

  • 92% of youth go on to enroll in post-secondary education, serve our country or enter the workforce.
  • 95% of youth remain free from juvenile justice system involvement.
  • 83% of youth earn a high school diploma or GED.
  • 98% of youth wait to parent until after their teen years.

Generational Change is Possible And It Starts With You.

A new school year is here, and we want our youth to feel supported and encouraged to become successful and overcome any challenge that comes their way. Friends of the Children–Portland provides a long-term mentoring program model, by committing to serve our youth for 12+ years, from kindergarten to graduation, no matter what.

Your investment is crucial to our mission and assures our youth that they matter, they have what it takes to make a positive difference in the world, and you are here to help them succeed.

By donating now, you are ensuring a successful new school year and access to opportunities that will help them reach their goals and become leaders of tomorrow.

Help us in build a stronger community for the future.
