Impact Entrepreneur Award

Friends of the Children Recognized Among Peers

Friends of the Children was honored with the 2016 Impact Entrepreneur Award recognizing social non-profits for bringing an entrepreneurial mindset to an important social mission.  The award was presented at the 2016 Elevating Impact Summit, hosted by Portland State University.

Friends of the Children’s nomination focused on how the organization has applied business tools and approaches to an important social mission.  In particular, Friends use of data-driven analytics to track, evaluate and refine its program components to achieve both intermediate and long-term outcomes for its youth was noted as industry leading.

“Bringing an entrepreneurial mindset to an important social mission is a powerful thing,” said Gary Clemons, Friends’ vice president and chief program officer, who accepted the award on behalf of the organization. “We pride ourselves in empowering youth to reach their full potential, and we use data and analytics as key tool to ensure we achieve our mission.”
