Corporate and foundation partnerships are an essential part of the ongoing success and growth of Friends of the Children—Portland. This platform for engagement allows local and national organizations to align themselves with our unique and trusted nonprofit. Our innovations in youth-led programming, partnerships with local schools and the child welfare system, and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion would not be possible without our partners. Partnerships activate the process of permanent, positive change in our community by generously supporting our research-based model for youth mentoring.
Come join us in changing the world – one child at a time.
Our professional mentors, known as Friends, work as advocates to help the youth we walk alongside access a wide variety of community resources. Program youth work with hundreds of organizations in the community.
We serve 350 children and youth in over 120 schools in five counties throughout the Portland Metropolitan area. We begin by selecting children at the kindergarten level at three local elementary schools and directly from the foster care system in partnership with the Department of Human Services. Many of the children served by FriendsPDX move and we remain committed to each child within a 30-mile radius of Portland.
