Carrie was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, the Land of Lincoln. She came to Portland in 2007 after majoring in forestry at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Shortly after arriving, she fell in love with the burgeoning food scene and the abundance of ingredients the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Following this passion, Carrie worked as executive coordinator for restaurants such as Toro Bravo, MEC, and Tasty and Sons/Alder, Event Producer for La Ruta PDX, The Nightwood Society, along with working for IPNC and Feast Portland.
Carrie values that FriendsPDX lives their values, putting youth first, always. The dedication to uncovering what fuels generational social and economic inequity and committing to combatting these institutional constructs, speaks volumes to the purpose of Friends of the Children. She is proud to be a part of it.
Outside of work Carrie enjoys getting outside with her son and Italian Mastiff (Aku), cooking at home, gardening, being a plant mom, along with eating and drinking delicious things with friends.
