On August 12, over 100 martial artists of all ages will hit the mats
for up to 70 consecutive rounds of sparring to raise money for local
mentoring organization Friends of the Children. A grapple-a-thon is a
Brazilian jiu-jitsu fundraiser, where participants spar while raising
money for a cause. At least one pair of grapplers must be on the mat at
all times for the entirety of the event. All skill levels are welcome to
participate. There will be a youth session from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
(ages 4 to 15). Adults will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees may also
come to cheer on the athletes and see who has the fortitude to go all 70
rounds.
During the event, Five Rings will also be accepting donations for KATU's Family Matters school supply drive. Learn more about our drive here.
Five Rings' mission is to inspire health, wellness and growth in our members and our community through grappling, fitness and service.
