Friends of the Children–Portland provides long-term, one-to-one mentoring for youth, beginning in kindergarten and continuing through high school graduation—12+ years of consistent support.
Each year, we enroll a small number of eligible youth who are referred through our formally established community partners. Current referral partners include ODHS Child Welfare, Morrison Child & Family Services, Innovative Housing Inc., and five Portland-area elementary schools: Alder, Lincoln Park, Rigler, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and KairosPDX. These partners help identify children ages 4-6 who are most likely to benefit from long-term mentoring.
At this time, we are unable to accept referrals outside of our established community partnerships. We encourage families and advocates to explore other local mentoring programs.
