FriendsPDX youth selected as a Class of 2026 Wings Scholar by Nike Jordan Brand and UNCF
We are celebrating FriendsPDX program youth, Darren Green, who was recently selected as a Class of 2026 Wings Scholar by the Nike Jordan Brand and UNCF. This incredible scholarship covers all expenses for Darren's next chapter, playing D1 soccer while attending the University of Washington!

Darren, his guardian Justin, and his Friend, our very own Alan Keys, were flown out to Chicago and surprised with this announcement in April. The Class of 2026 Wings Scholars brings 34 students from across the United States into the Jordan Brand family.
"It's an honor," shares Darren's guardian, Justin, "to see him through this process. Darren's faith, perseverance, and laser focus on the big picture have all helped him chase this dream of playing D1 soccer."
Alan, Darren's Friend of almost six years, oversaw Darren's switch from other sports to soccer five years ago. "I just saw something about tryouts posted on Snapchat and thought, why not!" says Darren. Alan adds, "I've had a wonderful experience working with Darren! Darren exemplifies the core assets of self-management, perseverance and grit, and self-determination. He is a kind and genuine human being with the spirit of a champion. I have no doubt that Darren will be successful in anything he puts his mind to."
Congratulations, Darren! We are so proud of you and excited to see where this next journey takes you.
The Wings Scholars Program exists to provide access and opportunities through education so that incoming college students can shape their own futures. Jordan Brand’s support doesn’t stop at the scholarship. The Wings initiative is there to support students throughout the entirety of their college experience and beyond. Through this program, students can fully focus on their studies, without the stress of college payments or loans, and have the opportunity to attend the school of their dreams.
